How to cook your Turkey safely this Xmas

One of the key fears when cooking the turkey this Xmas is how long should I cook it for?  The fears of salmonella are real and no cook wants to end up poisoning their family through a badly cooked bird at Xmas.  Food poisoning can be avoided by following the rules of hygiene and safety by taking the appropriate precautions.  One website which covers these areas in details for all seasonal chefs is the National Health Service site http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Healthychristmas/Pages/cooking-turkey.aspx

Have a happy and healthy Xmas!

Great butchers in Newton-le-Willows

Great butchers and farm shop in Newton-le-Willows

Red Bank Farm Shop, Newton-le-Willows

We are often urged by the media to ‘Buy Local’ but often it is difficult to buy local as many small shops have closed down.  Well the good news is that there is a Farm Shop on the border of Winwick in Warrington and Newton-le-Willows where it is possible to not only buy local but buy a range of locally grown produce.   The Red Bank Farm Shop opened in Christmas 2009 and since then it has built up a loyal following from those in the know of supplying tasty meat.  It specialises is 28 day matured beef grown on the farm as well as pork reared on-site.  The modern butchery shop is combined with a range of fresh vegetables and also luxury local goods ranging from pasta to North West Fine Food Awards 2011sauces and biscuits.  Warrington’s bees produce the Cheshire honey which is a favourite amongst visitors.
If you think that Farm Shops are all the same then you are in for a surprise as they also have a range of exotic Owls on display outside including an African Eagle Owl and a talking Raven, well it says “hello”.

The address of the shop is

Red Bank Farm Shop, Winwick Rd, Newton-le-Willows WA12 8DU

Alison Seagrave with the Easter Cupcake
