Do you want to know how clean is your favourite restaurant is in Warrington?
If the answer is yes, then you need to have a look at “The Scores on The Doors
In the past the work of the local Environmental Health section of the Council was bound by confidentiality until the prosecution took place when it was given plenty of newspaper column inches. Nowadays under the Freedom of Information legislation the data is available in a format that encourages consumer choice by giving the public access to the information as to which restaurants and takeaways are run hygienically and which are not.
The scheme is officially known as the Scores on the Doors service.
The purpose of the scheme are to:-
- Promote improved business standards through informed consumer choice by making available information to which the public has a right to access.
- Provide a Best Value method for any Local Authorities to meet their public access obligations under current and future legislation.
- To give a visible, cost effective and well-publicised means of encouragement for improved standards amongst businesses.
